Dessie Jackson

Dessie Jackson was born in Lancaster, PA in 1992.  She received her BFA in painting and drawing from Tyler School of Art, in Philadelphia. She has received The Vivian Rosenberg Award, Alec Abels Memorial Award in Painting, Nominee for Artist of the Year by Rad Girls, and #30under30 Philadelphia’s Most Inspiring Women.  

Jackson works in charcoal, pencil, collage, and oil paint. Her work’s major themes include femininity, sexual identity, gender representation, beauty as personal responsibility, and performance. Each piece, purposefully askew, floats
