Salon 21 is a fine art gallery and lifestyle destination that celebrates the intersection between art, design, and community.
Moving away from the traditional white-cube gallery style, Salon 21 offers a fresh, inspiring, and all-encompassing approach to both collecting and living.
Salon 21 fosters connection through its exhibitions and unique programming by breaking down the barriers between artist and patron. It seamlessly blends the gallery with the home, showcasing curated artful objects in an inviting, thoughtfully designed setting.
About the Salon
Founded by Alex Bass, Salon 21 is a fine art and interior design studio. The salon acts as a modern-day incarnation of Gertrude Stein’s legendary Parisian apartment, hosting rotating art exhibitions and community-centric programming. With an emphasis on gathering, our community can expect a revolving door of programming including brand pop-ups, artist talks, panel discussions, and cocktail parties.
The venue is almost entirely shoppable. From vintage objects to fine art, the salon showcases art and design in-situ. Salon 21 acts as Bass’s creative home base, offering art advisory and design services for private and commercial projects internationally. Salon 21 captures the zeitgeist of contemporary culture and the art scene for a new generation of New Yorkers. It is a place where you can expect to experience and collect art and design from emerging artists and artisans, both local and international.
About the Founder
Alex Bass is the founder and CEO of Salon 21. With degrees from Columbia University and the Sotheby’s Institute of Art, as well as experience working at major auction houses and blue chip galleries in New York, Bass is eager to bring the concept of the salon back to the 21st century, focusing on the conversation, socialization, and accessibility currently missing from the art world. Bass has completed touted interior design projects ranging from both residential to commercial spaces, and acts as an independent art advisor for clients. She is also a founding member of the Free Arts Patron Circle, empowering youth from underserved communities through art and mentoring programs to develop their creativity.
She has an incredible eye for new talent, jump starting the careers of many emerging artists. Bass’s goal is to provide a platform and be an ally to artists starting their careers and trying to navigate the complexities and hierarchies of the art world.
