Salon 21 is pleased to present “Agony in the Garden,” our second solo exhibition by Marc Armitano Domingo this year, opening to the public on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. “Agony in the Garden” is a title taken from an episode of the life of Christ. On the night before the crucifixion, after the last supper as his disciples sleep in an orchard, Christ prays to god in a desperate plea to spare him from his fate on the cross. But after being consoled by an angel, he ultimately accepts his betrayal and sacrifice. In “Agony in the Garden,” Armitano Domingo examines self-appointed suffering in both the secular and sacred worlds, and the virtuous aura that surrounds it.
